Apple Announces A New Ipad

by DaJuan HarrisMarch 7, 2012

Apple held an event in its hometown of San Fransisco  earlier today where they announced The new iPad. It is already breaking tradition by not being called the iPad 3. This new tablet beefs up on the specs while also slimming down. This new iPad will feature a 9.7 inch Retina display, as was rumored earlier. This new display will mean nothing unless the guts of the tablet can match it. This is where the new iPad succeeds. It features a new A5X Processor and a quad-core gpu. Apple even said that this new chip can deliver four times the performance of a Tegra 3.

This new tablet will also feature a completely redesigned camera, called iSight this camera is not completely new as the iPhone 4S features a similar design. There is a major difference though the iPad will only feature a 5 megapixel camera. This improved camera will allow for video to be captured in 1080p. For full specs on this new iPad check the press release below. The new iPad will be available March 16th, starting at $499 for the 16GB WiFi model and scaling up to $829 for the 64GB version with 4G. The pricing is the only thing that seems to have stayed the same.

Apple Launches New iPad
New iPad Features Retina Display, A5X Chip, 5 Megapixel iSight Camera & Ultrafast 4G LTE
SAN FRANCISCO―March 7, 2012―Apple® today introduced the new iPad®, the third generation of its category defining mobile device, featuring a stunning new Retina™ display, Apple’s new A5X chip with quad-core graphics and a 5 megapixel iSight® camera with advanced optics for capturing amazing photos and 1080p HD video. iPad with Wi-Fi + 4G connects to fast networks worldwide, including AT&T’s and Verizon’s 4G LTE networks, and still delivers the same all-day 10 hour battery life* while remaining amazingly thin and light. Beginning today, iPad 2 will be offered at an even more affordable price starting at just $399.

“The new iPad redefines the category Apple created less than two years ago, delivering the most amazing experience people have ever had with technology,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “The new iPad now has the highest resolution display ever seen on a mobile device with 3.1 million pixels, delivering razor sharp text and unbelievable detail in photos and videos.”

The new iPad’s Retina display delivers four times the number of pixels of iPad 2, so dense that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels when held at a normal distance, making web pages, text, images and video look incredibly sharp and realistic. The 3.1 million pixels in the Retina display are more than one million more pixels than an HD TV, and with 44 percent increased color saturation the new iPad displays colors that are unbelievably richer, deeper and more vivid. Movies are now capable of playing at full 1080p HD-resolution, delivering an incomparable viewing experience on a mobile device.

The powerful new A5X chip with quad-core graphics was specifically designed by Apple to deliver a fast, responsive user experience while supporting the incredible Retina display. With double the graphics performance of the A5 chip, the A5X provides a superb balance between performance and power efficiency so users can enjoy all the benefits of the stunning new display while experiencing a smooth Multi-Touch™ interface, immersive gameplay, incredible visual depth and all-day battery life that iPad is known for delivering.

The 5 megapixel iSight camera features advanced optics for taking stunning pictures and recording full HD video. Backside illumination allows you to take great photos in low-light conditions and a new video image stabilization feature removes the bumps and shakes typically seen when filming with a hand-held device. Images can be enjoyed on the large Retina display, then edited, enhanced and easily shared with friends and family using the built-in Photos app on iPad.

iPad Wi-Fi + 4G with built-in next generation 4G LTE has the most comprehensive support for fast networks worldwide including HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA, and now both CDMA and GSM iPad users have the ability to easily roam internationally. The world-ready iPad delivers blazing download and upload speeds so web pages load incredibly quickly and email with large attachments can be sent and received easily. Personal Hotspot can be used to share the fast network connection on your iPad with up to 5 other devices using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB**.

With iOS 5.1, the latest update to the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, the new iPad has a number of new features and enhancements including: a redesigned Camera app with video stabilization technology; the ability to delete photos from Photo Stream; support for dictation in English, French, German and Japanese; and Personal Hotspot. iOS 5.1 also works seamlessly with iCloud®, a breakthrough set of free cloud services including iTunes® in the Cloud, Photo Stream and Documents in the Cloud, that works seamlessly with your iPhone®, iPad, iPod touch®, Mac® or PC to automatically and wirelessly store your content and push it to your devices. When content changes on one of your devices, your other devices are updated automatically.

The new iPad also supports dictation, another amazing way to get things done just using your voice. Instead of typing, tap the microphone icon on the keyboard, then say what you want to say and the new iPad listens. Tap done, and iPad converts your words into text. You can use dictation to write messages, take notes, search the web and more. Dictation also works with third-party apps, so you can update your Facebook status, tweet, or write Instagram captions.

Apple also introduced the iPhoto® app, along with major updates to iMovie® and GarageBand®, completing its suite of iLife® apps for iOS. iLife and the iWork® apps, Pages®, Keynote® and Numbers®, have all been updated to take advantage of the new iPad Retina display. iPhoto includes breakthrough Multi-Touch features so you can use simple gestures to sort through hundreds of photos and find your best shots, enhance and retouch your images using fingertip brushes and share stunning photo journals with iCloud. iMovie now gives you the ability to create amazing Hollywood-style trailers as you record HD video, and GarageBand introduces Jam Session, an innovative and fun new feature that allows a group of friends to wirelessly connect to play instruments and record music together live on their iOS devices.

iPad runs almost all of the over 585,000 apps available on the App Store™, including more than 200,000 native iPad apps, from a wide range of categories, including books, games, business, news, sports, health, reference and travel. The iTunes Store® puts the world’s most popular online music, TV and movie store at your fingertips with a catalog of over 20 million songs, over 90,000 TV episodes and over 15,000 movies. The new iBooks® 2 app for iPad lets users experience an entirely new kind of ebook that’s dynamic, engaging and truly interactive. iBooks created with Apple’s new iBooks Author offer gorgeous, fullscreen ebooks with interactive animations, diagrams, photos, videos, unrivaled navigation and much more.

I have been maintaining up with the iPad for a long time now since I pre-ordered 1 on March 12, the very first day that option was available. I was told it would be delivery on April 3rd, but as of these days people (and apple) have explained that new orders will be transport on April 12th, so does that imply mine will be delivery on that date and not the third even although i ordered mine Ahead Of this was announced?

I want a new computer. I have a house desktop and its shared during the family members and i need a private pc to do my homework and whatnot.
But idk what to get. What would be a better buy?

I know that apple will announce a new ipad in the following 3months and i dont want to acquire the latest ipad to find out that a new one particular will arrive out.

  • Benjamin.Mira

    My interest has been perked

apple often announces their new products a week just before they start it and offer it
like the iphone 4s and the new ipad
my brother acquired an iphone 4 on august 2011 , i instructed him to wait around just in case … in oct the 4s came out. So really should i wait around for a new notebook ? Does anyone know if apple is preparing of launching a notebook in 2012 ?

I know that apple is saying the ipad 3 on march 7 and im likely to buy it. I know that permit folks to pre order, but dont place into circulation till about a week soon after the announcement. If I pre order, do they ship it out the day they release it for sale or do they deliver it to arrive on the day they realease it for sale.

  • Louisa Ellman

OK… A Lot of hype encompassing the release on any new Apple product…
I have made a decision if you [already] have an ipad2, it is possibly not really worth it to acquire the new iPad 2 for the incremental upgrades
But if you do not have an iPad2, [and] if you are not a major user, is it better to get a the aged iPad2 at a discount or far better to purchase the recently declared iPad2

  • Abbey Spencer

I was intrigued when Apple announced the iPad 3. Even So i currently individual a blackberry playbook and im not certain if creating the change is proper for me.

the iPad curiosity me because the App planet is a lot more of what i want not like the little Blackberry App world. Also the size, the Playbook is small as in comparison to the iPad, but mobility is not a problem for me, so i dont actually require a scaled-down device, a larger a single will do.

the difficulty is is that Apple isn’t going to have flash, and i normally use flash for youtube and other stuff.
Also the Blackberry Browser is very computer Like, even though the iPad browser is a lot more of a mobile like browser, that means the browser will work more as a Cell telephone browser than a pc browser, this may possibly be a dilemma for me considering that im typically on Facebook and Tumblr (Tumblr has several Gifs, which are type of like modest animated videos) and i want them to perform fast and well.

The Cash isnt a problem to me, i just want to know which one particular would operate properly for me, also im not much of a photo person but if the iPad 3 genuinely does have an incredible digital camera i may be a little bit much more fascinated in pictures…

so back again to the question, should i upgrade or really should i stay with what i have ?

I Just got my macbook pro 2012 2 days ago but i was told i wasn’t allowed laptops on my high school from a person i know. I don’t wanna get an iPad now and 3 months later the new one comes out. Im planning on getting it towards the end of september for my birthday but apple has there october convention thing every year. Will they announce a new iPad for holiday season? or will the iPad “new” iPad be the newest one till early to mid next year? Please help! best answer!

Are there any moms out there that make their own baby food and then freezes it?

Well, I was thinking of using the same ice cube method with apple juice.

When we go to the store we can buy these huge tubs of apple juice a lot cheaper than the little bottles. Since we only give juice in small qualities I know that the tub of juice would go bad before we drink it.

If we can freeze apple puree in cubes, why can’t we freeze the apple juice in cubes for later.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Would the frozen juice cubes last the same amount of time as the puree cubes (3 months) or more time, less time?

Once we put the cubes in the refrigerator for thawing how long are they good in the frig before tossing?

    Any ideas?

I was really excited when they announced the new iPad. I have never had a Mac and I was looking forward to it, although I own an iPod Touch. I knew that the iPod Touch did not support flash, but I just thought is was from the limitations of such a small product. Boy was I wrong! A LOT of websites use Flash, but yet the iPad does not support it. Why? My guess would be money! Apple uses surfing the web as a selling point for the iPad but yet it does not support Flash that most websites use! I am boxing mine up and taking it back! I will wait for Sony or Toshiba to come out with a similar product with windows.

am a current PS3 Slim 120GB and a Nintendo Wii owner. Those are the only systems that i have which means that i have no portable gaming device, it is just the PS3 Slim and the Nintendo Wii. I want to buy three of these gaming devices and knock one out. I really want the iPhone 3GS because it is the king of the devices out in the world so i really want one for the amazing applications games, iPod, etc. I might hold off for the 3GS for another two months so i can buy the new one coming out, So, i basically want an iPhone, i do not care which iPhone i get but it has to be between the 3GS and the new 4G. I really want the iPad because i currently do not have any sort of laptop, and the iPad is a cheap touch screen laptop with amazing games. But, would a laptop be better than an iPad if i will buy the iPhone? Because if i have the iPhone and iPad, they are both the same thing, so i will play with the iPhone more because it is portable, but at the same time the iPad is a new thing that came out and i never bought something new in my entire life because i got the PS3 Slim in 2010, and the Nintendo Wii near October. So, the iPad would be a cool laptop with tons of games also considering that it is as fast as a laptop. If i will buy the iPad, i will be buying the 16GB Wi-Fi Version which runs at $499.99. The Nintendo DSi XL is very fun with great games and a 93% Larger Screen than the Nintendo DS Lite and 86% bigger than the Nintendo DSi. But, one thing that i hate about the Nintendo DSi XL and DSi and all of the DS Series is that you play the Nintendo DS for the first month and then it sits in your closet for the next five years and that is what happend to my friend, he got a DSi the day it came out, played with it for the first month, and then left it in the closet, but some of my other friends love there DS. Also, Nintendo is making the 3DS which i got very dissapointed when they announced that it was going to replace the Nintendo DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL. But the DS still has good games so i do not know what i should do, oohhh also i returned a DSi before, i got one didnt play with it so returned it but at the same time the DS has great games, AND PLEASE KNOWBODY TELL ME TO BUY THE DS LITE!!!! The Xbox 360 Elite is fun also considering all of the exclusive games that i like (Halo, Forza, Fable) etc, but it came out in 2005 and i already have the PS3 Slim so i might not have enough time to enjoy all of my consoles. Also, if i do buy the Xbox 360 i will buy the Spring 2010 Bundle which includes Forza Motorsport 3 and Halo 3: ODST. I know that the Live is better but i am afriad that they will release a new Xbox in the next 2 years. The reason why i am bringing this up is because in 2004, i got a PS2 Slim, and i never knew that the PS3 was going to come out two years later, so i got the PS2, two years later PS3 came out, asked my parents if i could buy one and said no which is the reason why i didn’t buy the PS3 until 2010. But, at the same time the Consoles are so advanced that they might be trying to add on to it to complete the life cycle. I know some of you are going to say that microsoft said that the Xbox 360 has a 10 year lifecycle, but if a new Xbox comes out they could be selling the 360 with the new console kind of like what sony did, in 2002 they said PS2 is going to have a 10 year lifecylce so everybody got one and the PS3 Came out, so who knows new consoles could come out anytime. Pricing is not a problem. But, you know how microsoft and sony decrease the price of there consoles every year, well like i said pricing is not an issue, if Sony and Microsoft wanted to keep the 360 and PS3 then would they stop decreasing the price and keeping it at $299.99 or will they keep decreasing then until they are $200 dollars and then announce a new system, i am not worried about the prices i am worried about the consoles and how long they are staying. Please you have to explain a lot in your answer and tell me why i should buy what ever you thing i should buy, who ever explains the most gets 5 stars and 10 points. THANKS EVERYBODY GOOD LUCK!!!!! ALSO PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE THING!!!!!! PLEASE EXPLAIN A LOT TO RECIEVE BEST ANSWER, SO DONT JUST TYPE WHAT YOU WANT ME TO GET, EXPLAIN.
