Crysis 3 Will Support DirectX 11 At Launch, Is The Spiritual Successor To Crysis 1

by Jake ValentineApril 25, 2012

Remember how gorgeous the first gameplay trailer looked for Crysis 3? Well, that’s because Crytek is developing the 2013 FPS with the PC in mind, taking advantage of DirectX 11 starting from day one.

According to Joystiq’s report, Crytek opted to unveil the game on PC, rather than its console counterparts, who’s versions have not yet been publicly unveiled. There was never any doubt of DirectX 11 support in Crysis 3. After all, it was patched into Crysis 2; “We basically started from a Crysis 2 DX11 patch, as starting point, and then we developed our technology from there on,” says Rasmus Hojengaard, Director of Creative Development at Crytek. “We’d be pretty stupid not to capitalize on the technology we did for that and utilizing that from the get-go.” Remember, as we saw by a tech demo released earlier this month, all of their hard work on updating CryENGINE 3 has certainly paid off.

Now that the game has been officially announced, it seems as though Crytek employees can’t stop talking about it. “Crysis 3 will be more a spiritual successor in gameplay to Crysis 1 instead of Crysis 2,” Cevat Yerli mentioned while discussing how the new look of New York City will affect gameplay. This is something I asked for during a recent editorial; combining the gameplay of Crysis with the controls of Crysis 2, and it appears that Crytek is going to do just that. I cannot wait.

Absolutely Crytek can run their own game Crysis at the greatest settings feasible with 60fps+ at a higher resolution like 2560×1600 with some AA in buy for them to believe that typical personal computers will play them? What type of video cards do Crytek use and exactly where do they get them?

  • Kathleen Frias

I’ve been actively playing Crysis for a few days now, and now I Would like to use the editor. I set up it, but when I press on the software it says: “The software has failed to begin simply because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the software celebration log for a lot more detail.” How do I resolve this?

Can you generate your custom made terrain textures as effectively as custom weaponry in CryEngine 3? In that case, how?

  • Abbey Spencer

Now before you get into the jargon of detailing to me how to use a dazzle, I by now know all that.
My personal computer is atleast 25m away from the ps3, so a Dazzle is not an option.
I’ve been researching, and have arrive throughout the HDPVR recording device, and I was wondering if there is any way to use this device or any other to record ps3 gameplay without connecting to a computer.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Roslyn Pasley

I need to have a way (or ways) to seize Xbox gameplay without seize card (Yeah I know that things like EasyCap are cheap, but the quality is crap and the HD one is pricey as f*ck)
I have a digital camera and I heard that you can use that but Idk how to.
Also, list all the achievable techniques to document the gameplay without capture card.
    @Man of mystery
The camera does have a cable that connects to the TV but it is for seeing pics and/or videos on the TV.

  • Margery Degarmo

I’ve got a capture card a mic but I don’t know what kind of gameplay videos to upload. What do people want to see?
I want to do an LP of a game I know very well.

  • Anne Felton

Now before you get into the jargon of explaining to me how to use a dazzle, I already know all that.
My computer is atleast 25m away from the ps3, so a Dazzle is not an option.
I’ve been researching, and have come across the HDPVR recording device, and I was wondering if there is any way to use this device or any other to record ps3 gameplay without connecting to a computer.

    Thanks in advance.

If the ps3 is capable of playing crysis then why isnt there a ps3 version of crysis. So basically is the ps3 capable of playing crysis at high settings with above 45 fps+.

  • Melanie

Developer vs Developer, if they were both developing for the same platform the same game, which developer would produce better graphics.

    Some well informed answers please.

    Thanks.

Okay I want to post gameplay/walkthroughs on YouTube without a camera because I have a few recording CD’s and need them for my trip this summer. I want to post on YouTube from a game called Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Please include full details.
Okay if I do use a camera, why is there like a black square that moves up and down on the camera when you face the camera to the screen?

  • Squall Leonhart

As the title states. I’m still a rookie and I need to record some gameplay so I can get more viewers and possibly begin a new commentary group. List all possible methods.

  • Marlon P

Like many people, I have an xbox. Also like many people, I like to show off and talk about myself. Combining the two just seems like the logical step. So how do I go about recording my gameplay from my xbox and and making commentaries to post on youtube? Without the use of a video camera. I don’t want to be seen as a caveman from the youtube community.

Crysis Warhead came about 1 year after the first one, now we are in 2009 and still we haven’t got any information on Crysis 3 not even a bit of info from crytek or EA, any clues or info?

  • vanvark83

I really am not an expert on what is out there to use, but i don’t want to spend more than $20. My goal is to record some call of duty gameplay and make some montages. I know MW3 already records, but i don’t know how to get that recording onto my computer. So im looking to buy a cheap and simple device to make the xbox to computer transfer. Any help?

  • RuMKilleR

Do i need the same for both consoles or do they have different things to record them i need a list of what i need i want to record gameplay with voice. What do i need?

  • Mak Sultan

Crysis is by far my favorite first person shooter ever. Best graphics, crazy cool explosions, and the last 3 levels are by far the most epic levels I’ve ever seen.

I ran it on a Intel Core Dou 2 @ 2.66GHz on a 9800GTX+ 512MB GPU and with 2GB of DDR2 RAM. I was able to run it at 1024×768 res on ALL very high at 35-40 fps.

However Crysis Warhead changed all that, Cryteks stupid mistake of making the game use no less then 254MB of VRAM for rendering made me studder all the way through, and i was forced to play on ALL very high with objects turned down to high and textures on meduim :(

Will this be the case for Crysis 2?

  • Scott W

Basically what the question says, what is the more popular(maybe better) multiplayer game, which offers more variety. Is the stealth really good in Crysis? Does it have a lot of variety in gameplay, online based?
Also, I would like it if the game would last long.

Which game is sure to last longer than the other game?
