Crytek, EA Officially Announced Crysis 3, Returns To New York City's Jungle

by Jake ValentineApril 16, 2012

Out with the urban jungle, in with the actual jungle.

Crysis 3 will transform the New York City we all know into a completely different animal when the latest offering from Crytek and EA hits stores in 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Powered by the latest verison of CryEngine 3, EA has already labelled the shooter as the “premier sandbox shooter experience of 2013.” The official announcement comes just as we gave our opinion concerning recent rumors of Crysis 3 being leaked.

Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love,” said Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of Crytek in the press release. “Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.”

Players will resume the role of Prophet, aka Alcatraz at the start of Crysis 2, as he attempts to discover the true motives of the evil Cell Corporation.

Three pre-order packs for unnamed retailers were announced as well:

·         Stalker Pack – Includes the base game, all Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: for players who like to stalk their prey from the shadows the Stalker Pack provides early multiplayer access to the deadly semi-auto Jackal shotgun. This powerful, close-range shotgun comes with a unique silencer attachment, custom weapon skin and two exclusive themed in-game dog tags.
·         Overkill Pack – Includes the base game, all Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: the Overkill Pack features early multiplayer access to the Typhoon assault weapon and skin. Spewing 500 rounds a second, the Typhoon gives players the ability to go guns blazing to take back the Liberty Dome. Also included are two exclusive Overkill themed in-game dog tags.
·         Predator Pack – Includes the base game, all the Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: the Predator Pack delivers early multiplayer access to the Feline submachine gun and exclusive camo. With an extremely fast rate of fire and a 60 round magazine the Feline is highly effective and deadly, at short range.

Should you pre-order the game on Origin, you’ll get access to the Hunter Edition, giving early access to the game’s all new bow, as well as boosting your multiplayer experience to level 5.

In addition to the announcement, several screen shots of the title were released, featured below.

I very own an xbox 360 and a copy of Contemporary Warfare 2.

I generally perform offline (the very last time I went online, I obtained a red ring for employing a faulty cable to go online), so I play multiplayer with my friends. My account (which has Xbox Live) is level 21, and unlocked numerous perks. In the future, I was planning to perform Modern-day Warfare 2 online. Does my stage stay the same, or does it reset to 1?

Im working with cryengine 3 right now, and im trying to make an fps game. Something really crazy and different from others.
Is there any type of program that lets players create a character… well for an example, i guess sometimes when you first start and rpg game, you can create a character, edit clothes, hair, height, face, etc.
Is there any program associated with the cryengine 3 or 3Ds max to help me do this.
Not a program to create characters for a game, but an in game character creator for the players.

Also are there any programs to help me create characters for the game. To create characters and set animations they do, like jumping, climbing, crouching, etc. I think i am supposed to use maya, from autodesk. I do have it downloaded, but im not sure if I am supposed to use that or another program.

I was looking on Crytechs website, and I was wondering if their is anyway to license CryEngine 2, On MyCryEngine, they only posted CryEngine 3 and it’s brochure, and I am not as interested in the brand new one as I am the old one. So, Is their anyway I can contact Crytech and ask about this? Or do they only License Cryengine 3 now?
