Nintendo Reports $460 Million Loss for 2011

by Ben RunningsApril 26, 2012

The 3DS might be selling fairly well but it seems like it is making Nintendo lose money. In their 2011 fiscal report Nintendo shows that they had net sales of ¥647 billion ($8 billion) which is ¥12.3 billion lower than forecasted. Total loss for the year was ¥37.3 billion or $461.2 million. Just a small hunk of change I guess.

Nintendo hopes during the next fiscal year to stop selling the 3DS at a loss and that new titles like New Super Mario Bros. 2 help sales. The release of the Wii U this year should also be a positive event for them if it is anything like the launch of the original Wii. Nintendo is currently predicting to reach a ¥35 billion profit during this current fiscal year.

People might view this as an ill omen for Nintendo but considering how good they have been doing for the last 5 or so years, I think they are just fine.

She is just learning to read, so some of the video games that are rated E are even now over her head. Any ideas about video games that would be age suitable for her?

Now prior to the Wii fanboys go ridiculous this is not a diss. I’m not calling the Wii crap, but it is inferior to the other next-gen consoles primarily based on hardware specs alone. I just believe it is amazing how Nintendo is capable to do so nicely yr soon after year with what hardcore players think about to be gimmicks. I respect Nintendo for being masters at advertising their product year after year with a very substantial stage of success. How are they able to do it in your opinion?
Your Real Truth you are precisely right, but I am not contemplating in terms of graphics alone. There are many hardcore Nintendo fans (myself included) that are not content with the lack of games for the correct Nintendo admirer base. Nintendo has taped into the informal gamer market, but in flip has alienated the hardcore base to a certain extent. I comprehend their technique though…..get money. I can not knock that.

On my Nintendo 3DS, there’s a scratch on the frontward facing plastic, right over top of the inside camera. The scratch goes right over the top half of the lens, which makes the entire top half of the photos blurry. The scratch isn’t directly on the lens itself though, it’s on the piece of plastic that covers the 3D screen, the inner camera, and the speakers ( It’s black on most 3DS’s ). Where could I go to get that scratch removed or buy a new front piece?

I am 13. My little brother is 11. I am really psyched about the 3ds and think on black friday I will buy 2 3ds systems. The problem is, my little brother doesn’t seem to like it, and I want him to like what I will buy him for christmas. Is there a way to get him psyched without giving away that it is for him?
