Bioshock Infinite Delayed Until Next Year, No E3 or Gamescom Appearances

by Charles PowersMay 9, 2012

Game developers try, they really do, to please the fans. Sometimes in their eagerness they create lofty goals that can undoubtedly be achieved, but will clash with their attempts to satiate their fans.

It’s crazy the catch 22 world we live in, right?

Ken Levine, founder of Irrational Games, today announced the delay of the much anticipated game, Bioshock Infinite. In the announcement, Levine stressed that as a studio the wanted to “let our loyal (and very patient!) fans know this as soon as possible.”

He goes further to say:

I won’t kid you: BioShock Infinite is a very big game, and we’re doing things that no one has ever done in a first-person shooter. We had a similar experience with the original BioShock, which was delayed several months as our original ship date drew near. Why? Because the Big Daddies weren’t the Big Daddies you’ve since come to know and love. Because Andrew Ryan’s golf club didn’t have exactly the right swing. Because Rapture needed one more coat of grimy Art Deco.

The long wait is made even more painful by the fact that Bioshock Infinite will not be making an appearance at either E3 or Gamescom, the two biggest video game showcases remaining this year.

What does this mean for you? It means a bit more waiting, but more importantly, it means an even better BioShock Infinite. The great can be made greater, and we owe it to both ourselves and to you, our fans, to take this opportunity. Irrational Games is one of those rare developers lucky enough to ask the people who sign the checks: “Hey, can we have a few more of those checks?”

While the news certainly pains us, memories of the blockbuster Bioshock keep us holding on to the faith that this was indeed for the best, and providing we survive our own “apocalypse” this winter, we’ll be ready to explore Columbia yet again.

Bioshock: Infinite, which was to be released last month, is now slated for a release date of February 26th, 2013.

Seems they all feel it is their correct to be irrational disturbed idiots and then critique us men when we say we have had enough of it. Looks females want it each ways. To be highly regarded but also get absent with being dumb as when it suits them.

Just found out that irrational games is delaying bioshock infinite, so they can polish their product some more. Do you want them to delay it so they can make it even better, or should they just release it this year like they originally planned?

my boyfriend and i are in college. He has a class with this girl and he texts her throughout the entire class. She texts him everyday…..and they’re really not close friends. She has just recently starting hanging out in his apartment (with him and his roommates) and she and her roommates have started going to his sports games. I am an irrationally jealous person normally, and i’m working on it. But the constant texting (which he deletes all his texts almost everyday now which he never used to do) is really bothering me. I’ve talked to him about it but i don’t think it’ll change. I love him and i trust that he’d never cheat on me……but it really bothers me A LOT.

am i being my stupid irrational self or do I have a reason to be upset???

Suppose this game can continue indefinetely. One of the players has the rationals, the other the irrationals. The one with the rationals chooses a subinterval I1 = [a1 , b1] of [0, 1] (a1 e b1 may be rational or irrational) with length b1 – a1 <= 1 = 1/1. On the next move, his opponent chooses a subinterval I2 = [a2, b2] of I1 with length less or equal to 1/2. On the n-th move, it's chosen a subinterval I_n = [a_n, b_n] of I_(n-1) with length b_n – a_n <= 1/n. So, 2 sequences a_n e b_n are constructed in [0,1], such that a_n < b_n for every n and lim (a_n – b_n) = 0 Since the reals are a complete set, a_n and b_n converge to a same x in [0,1] (ie, x is the only element common to all of the I_n's). If x is rational, the player with the rationals wins, and vice-versa. Show that there exists an strategy that, if followed by the player that has the irrationals, assures his victory no matter the moves of his opponent are.

Now I know its fun to be the GM of your team, but doesn’t it get boring after a while?

Seriously, am I a crazy, irrational human being or can you see my side of things?
Boyfriend, let’s call him Joe, and I are at his families house last night. I go home early since I have to work. He stays, which I am totally fine with. I go home, go to sleep by 10:30, wake up at 1am from a bad dream, realize he’s not home yet, so I call him. He doesn’t pick up. I figure they’re playing games or something, so he’ll definitely call me back. 45 minutes later, I call again and again no answer. I text twice too…which is now making me look like a lunatic.

Finally, he calls me back and says he’s parking the car outside our place.

Don’t you find it fishy that he didn’t answer and then finally called while he was conveniently parking the car? He says his phone must have turned to silent while in his pocket – but really? I just don’t see that happening – especially with his phone.

I sound crazy. I feel crazy, but I do not believe him. he’s never given me a reason not to doubt him, but I don’t know – my gut is pissed off! Any advice?
