NVIDIA Launches the GeForce GTX 660 Ti

by Baron W.August 16, 2012

Finally at long last NVIDIA has launched their ideal vision of the ‘budget conscious gamers’ Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). The GeForce GTX 660 Ti is designed to be capable of tackling even the most power hungry games but at a reasonable cost.

Unlike NVIDIA’s competitor AMD, NVIDIA believes more in quality than quantity. Now that’s not to say that AMD does not feel the same way as NVIDIA about their products. But when you look at the sheer variety that AMD offers based on performance and price, it can become quite confusing as to which graphics card is best suited for the task at hand.

The GeForce 660 Ti packed full of features, you can check them out below in this image snapshot:

NVIDIA’s GeForce 660 Ti is placed competitively against AMD’s Radeon HD 7950. The GeForce 660 Ti is based on the same GK104 silicon just like the other GeForce 600 series graphics card. Recent benchmarking results from trusted news outlets confirm that the GeForce 660 Ti can perform on par with AMD’s Radeon HD 7950 and in some cases well exceed it and able to max out most games easily on the highest settings. The majority of GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics cards being launched today are of custom-design with prices ranging between $299 and $349.

If I were to explain to a class, what is a clear indication that the motherboard is for AMD or Intel? I believe it has to do with the socket type, correct?

Like the 4800 in the AMD X2 Dual-Core 4800 or the 4500 in the Intel Core 2 Duo E4500? I know bigger number means faster, but is that number calculated from anything? Like processor speed + FSB speed or anything like that?

The newest update for the nvidia card apparetly conflicts with the Sims 3, and was wondering how I could revert it back to the last update (190). Please give me a step by step, I am not good at this sort of thing.

I have two computers, one with an AMD processor and one with an intel processor. I want to exchange the motherboard and processor on the two computers. Is it possible to do so without changing all the other hardware?

Hey, have an AMD question: what processor do you suggest for a powerful yet small computer? I need to process three camera feeds at one time.
PS it has to be an AMD processor…
Please tell the best for a desktop and best for a laptop.

What are some of the supporting motherboards for each of these processors? Are there any motherboards support both Intel and AMD processors? What are the latest AMD processors in comparison to Intel’s Core 2 Duo / Quad core / i3 / i5 / terms of speed and power?
So how do latest AMD and Intel processors compare in terms of speed and power?
