CES 2013 | Meet The UNU — Tablet, Game Console, Smart TV System All-In-One
It’s hard to describe the UNU — because it fits in a lot of categories. Sunflex Europe debuted the UNU tablet today at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and it certainly is a one-of-a-kind device. The UNU, which debuted at Gamescom 2012 as the “snakebyte eins,” is billed as a gaming console, Android tablet, and Smart TV, all-in-one package. Sunflex pulls this off by packing as much into the box as possible: every purchase comes with a docking station for connecting to your HDTV, a controller for gameplay, full QWERTY keyboard, and an “air mouse” remote controller that helps with the Smart TV integration.
Games optimized for controllers can be played as though they were real console games. Thanks to an integrated button mapping app, games without native controller support can also be enjoyed, meaning the days of dealing with – and subsequently hating – touchscreen controls will soon be over, if the UNU is to be believed.
The air mouse remote means you’ll be able to play Angry Birds on your TV while your tablet’s docked. In fact, you should be able to do practically whatever you’d be able to do as if you were still holding the tablet.
While what we know is impressive and exciting, we don’t know two things: when it will be released and how much it will cost. We’ll let you know when we do.
