The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Officially Confirmed For The PlayStation 4

by Chris CalasahanFebruary 22, 2013

Since PS4 has officially been announced now the wave of upcoming titles is starting to take form.  CD Projekt RED’s open-world RPG will be released in 2014 on the PS4.  This game is expected to be the exciting climax to an award-winning franchise of games and completes the legend this series tells.  This doesn’t mean new fans should ignore this game as CD Projekt Red has announced that this game will be a standalone story, this way The Witcher series can bring in more fans while trying to satisfy already established fans.  Now while this game will expect to show players to live out the dangerous adventures of being a witcher, being among the first games on the PS4 the new capabilities of this system gives this title a chance to be a special RPG.
”We were thrilled when asked, several months ago, to be one of the developers who were granted early access to the PlayStation 4. It was an exciting moment to be invited to be in the company of other legendary developers like  Bethesda, EA, LucasArts, Ubisoft or Activision as one of the teams working on titles shipping early in the PlayStation 4’s lifecycle. Of course, we couldn’t reveal any specifics about this to our fans, even though many journalists and forum members asked about when and how The Witcher might show up on Sony’s console. After yesterday’s PlayStation Meeting we can finally promise: The Witcher 3 is coming to the PlayStation 4. The new hardware gives us the opportunity to create something great. We are able to work with the new console from its birth and this allows our in-house REDengine 3 to push the graphical limits of what the PlayStation hardware can display. The console is fresh and has some innovative solutions that we’re looking forward to using in our game” -Adam Badowski, Head of CD Projekt Red
CD Projekt Red has some created some lofty expectations for this upcoming game.  While being revealed by Game Informer last month, Game Informer called The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt “a must see next generation RPG“.  The free-roaming world and non-linear story line makes this game very interesting to RPG fans as they can approach this game anyway they want to and with the capapibilites of the PS4 it will be very interesting to see how far CD Projekt Red can push the limits of the system for this game.  The open environment will present players a world filled with lands devastated by war and misty waters so they can hunt the dangerous beasts for money.  The combat system is also expected to be improved to help players feel like true monster hunters.  Everything involved with this game is to server the purpose of players feeling like a witcher, a person who uses their superior abilities and skills in battle to overcome a dark world to conquer a quest to save their loved ones.
”It’s a real pleasure to cooperate with Sony. Combining CD Projekt RED’s unique artistic vision and tech with the capabilities of PlayStation 4 will make The Witcher 3 a truly next-gen RPG. With Sony’s new hardware and our new engine, there are no limits to what we can create in the process of realizing our vision for Geralt’s dark fantasy world”-Adam Kicinski, CEO of CD Projekt SA
This game is expected to be released in 2014 on all of the high-end platforms.  Fans should be looking forward to this as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sounds like it has the makings of a high quality game one should not miss.  We will keep you updated with the latest on this upcoming game.
