Activision Being Sued By Panamanian Ex-Dictator

Following Grand Theft Auto’s recent lawsuit with Lindsay Lohan, it looks like Activision will be facing a similar one.

Panamanian ex-dictator, Manuel Noriega, is now suing Activision. Courthouse News Service reports that Noriega claims the Call of Duty developer used his likeness without his consent in Black Ops II, while showcasing “blatant misuse, unlawful exploitation and misappropriation for economic gain.”

The lawsuit also claims that Activision’s Black Ops II “features several nonfiction characters, including plaintiff, for one purpose: to heighten realism in its video game.” In turn, Noriega’s lawsuit claims sales for the game increased as well.

Noriega was a military dictator in the 80s. He was later dismissed after a U.S. invasion and was convicted of a number of different things, one being drug trafficking.

Activision has yet to give a comment on the lawsuit, but we will certainly keep you updated.

What do you think of the slight increase in lawsuits against video game developers these days? Do you think they are justified? Let us know in the comments below.
