Meet Mr. Scratch (Caution: He's a Psycho)

We’ve heard a lot about the upcoming XBLA continuation of the Alan Wake franchise, but we’ve never really heard much about the games antagonist, Mr. Scratch. Well get ready to meet him in the latest, and massively pulp-inspired trailer:

[stream provider=youtube flv=http%3A//www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3D1m4Fk1L-DrM%26feature%3Dplayer_embedded img=x:/img.youtube.com/vi/1m4Fk1L-DrM/0.jpg embed=false share=false width=640 height=360 dock=true controlbar=over skin=stormtrooper.zip bandwidth=high autostart=false /]

He’s something right? Definitely the antithesis of the calm and collected Alan Wake. The “Pulp Fiction” feel mentioned in the latest [...]

Alan Wakes American Nightmare Developer Diary Talks Pulp

It’s just a few short weeks until the release of Alan Wakes American Nightmare as part of this years Xbox ‘House Party’ promotion. This standalone incarnation of remedy’s Alan Wake’s American Nightmare looks to shake up the original title with it’s new and improved mechanics.

This developer diary gives us a unique new look at this stand-alone XBLA title, straight from the mouth of the developers themselves. It’s noticeable that this iteration of the franchise has a totally different approach from the original, to quote the developers themselves:

[quote]Alan Wake was Steven King and Lost, Alan Wakes American Nightmare is more [...]

I Am Alive 'Encounters' Trailer Teaches You How To Fight

There was a point last year where I thought Ubisoft’s long announce game I Am Alive would never see the light of day, I’m so glad that I was wrong.  I Am Alive was originally announced in 2008 and since then it’s seen more than it’s fair share of development issues and developer team swaps. Finally it found it’s way over to Ubisoft Shanghai and it”s been up from there.

Recently it was announced that  I Am Alive is to be part of Microsofts ‘House Party’ promotion in February, along with Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, Nexuiz and Warp. This promotion begins on February 12th and should bring the attention that I Am Alive so [...]

Favorite Game That I Played in 2010

There were a lot of good games that came out this year (and bad ones) that I really enjoyed and some that didn’t come out this year that I had a great time playing again. Of course I won’t be able to touch on all the games that I played in 2010 since that would end up becoming a novel so I am only going to mention a few.

First up, is Halo Reach, which came out in September but I did not pick up it up on day one. I was delaying getting this newest Halo game simply because I was unsure about it. I’ve played all the Halo games and did I really need another one? After a battle on whether or not to get this game, I finally did. Personally, I found it to be the best story in [...]

Alan Wake Last DLC Dated + Video

Well, it’s time to say goodbye. Yes, it is a hard thing to do, but we have to do it sometimes, right? Last week, there was confirmation that The Writer would be the last bit of DLC for the original title.

Then, we did not have a date. Now, Remedy thought it would be a good heads up, as it is weeks away. Expect to grab your hands on the downloadable content on October 12th.

As promised there is a video to go along with it, thanks to GameTrailers. By the looks of it, it will draw you into the story even more. Expect to go on another wild goose chase with Mr. Wake. This time around, the DLC will have you pony up 560 Microsoft Points. Ok enough reading, check [...]

Alan Wake's Second DLC, The Writer, Is The Last

First off, I just want to say, it was a good road for you Remedy. You tried to come with something new, but like with everything else, it wasn’t just executed correctly. No worries though, look at Ubisoft. The came with Assassin’s Creed, and blew us away with their sequel. Hopefully, you will do the same.

Now that we have that out the way, let’s get on with the news. Remedy’s CEO, Matias Myllyrinne, told our friends over at Evil Avatar, Alan Wake’s second DLC, entitled “The Writer”, will be the last content to make it to the game. The first content, The Signal, was released back in the summer, which was free for whoever bought [...]

Difficulty and Video Games

Whether a game is hard or not could depend on the person playing said game. Some would argue that games from the retro era (Atari, NES, Genesis) are way harder than video games of today. Could this be because as kids we would play those retro games over and over again? After a while it would become second nature since a lot of those games were based on memory and skill? If this were true than a kid from today shouldn’t have any issues with a retro game like Super Mario Bros 2: The Lost Levels, if they play it over and over again, right?

I asked around on my twitter feed and a message board that I frequent, Jul, on what they thought about hard video games, which games they [...]
